Mental Health

Mental health, most would argue, is as important as physical health as one is dependent upon the other. If you work out every day, have 3% body fat, and eat like a monk, you probably look and feel great. But if your moods are unstable, if you are unhappy most of the time, or anxious, or have PTSD, working out will not solve your problems.

Find Yourself Some Nature

“Green space is an agent of public health, one that can build and sustain mental wellbeing,” said Jenny Roe, an environmental psychologist at the University of Virginia. One way to mitigate the effects of poor mental health is through contact with nature. The relationship human beings have with nature is kind of like the relationship we have with our families and co-workers. They may not be in our lives on a day-to-day basis, but they have a significant impact on our mental health regardless of whether we are aware of it or not.

We’re not saying that nature cures all ills. We are saying that nearness to nature, for as little as five or ten minutes, will improve your mood and help you tackle the rest of your day. It has far less side effects than 5 milligrams of your favorite tranquilizer and best of all, it’s free and can be easily found if you look for it.

Andromeda District

We here at Andromeda District have spent our lives re-greening our little piece of the planet. We design, install, and maintain green living walls, also called vertical gardens. Our family has been, and still is, dedicated to the improvement of the environment for everyone. Pulling up a chair or standing next to one of these walls for a few minutes makes life a little less anxiety-provoking.

We educate every client about how our sustainability initiative will work best for them. Research has shown that living walls increase oxygen levels indoors because a plant’s leaves, stems, and roots participate in the cleansing process, as well as microorganisms that live in the soil and plant roots. Outside or inside, on the roof or on a wall, and anywhere in the U.S., our living walls are cooling down the environment, improving air quality, decreasing humidity, reducing noise, and improving a building’s energy efficiency.

And because every employer is interested in the well being of their employees so that their business is functioning at peak level, installing a vertical garden wall is the most cost-effective way to increase productivity in the workplace.

Alive with Design

Besides the amazing benefits derived from being in or around nature, the walls are remarkably beautiful. Our commercial clients have worked with us to create interesting designs incorporating dozens of different plant species and incorporating their logos and names within the design itself. Our residential architects and designers have utilized our sustainable designs and intelligent construction to create vertical gardens that are functional, renewable, low-maintenance, transformative, and cost-effective. Best of all, in many cases it can be done in as little as two days.
