The Letter of Apology of Mother Nature
DEAR MOTHER NATURE
On behalf of an ashamed and badly-behaving world, we are sorry. We have made, and are continuing to make, a mess of this planet. We have ignored the warning signs all around us. We are seeing the demise of the bee population and we are heartbroken about the over one million species at risk of extinction. Only 3% of earth’s marine areas are free from human pressure. Per Robert Watson, the chairman of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Diversity and Ecosystem Services, “The health of the ecosystems on which we and other species depend is deteriorating more rapidly than ever. We are eroding the very foundations of economies, livelihoods, food security, health, and quality of life worldwide. We have lost time. We must act now.”
We, the mammals with the biggest and most advanced brains, have blown it big time. The problem seems unmanageable and way too big and complicated to tackle. Our human footprint is so large there is almost no space for anything else.
The list of all the ways we are ruining our planet, the only one we have by the way, is growing every day. However, let the countries of the world figure out how to handle this catastrophe at a global level. You and I can do our part in very small, but impactful ways.
We Ask Your Forgiveness
We will do better. We know how bleak the situation looks but we will fix it, even if it takes the rest of our lives. We depend on you Mother Nature. We understand that with just five minutes in nature, our heartrate slows, tensed muscles relax, the frontal lobe of the brain quiets down, the smell of the pine trees strengthens our immune systems, and the sounds of birds and other animals in nature come together to create an inner peacefulness. We breathe deeply and feel connected to the planet. Just 5 hours a month in nature makes you happier. We are reminded that in an increasingly urbanized world, Mother Nature is still the Queen.
Finding Mother Nature
When you live in a city and are too busy to find a forest, ocean, or meadow to enjoy the benefits of being in nature, bring nature to wherever you are. Andromeda District’s vertical garden walls transport you from your urbanized existence to a green oasis in an instant. We create, install, and maintain our mini-environments or eco-systems to help you find peace in an increasingly competitive and contentious world. Someday our inside and outside nature will be everywhere you look. You will see them in hospitals, clinics, and schools because there is no downside to adding nature to your life. Given how cost-effective and easy it is to include nature in your personal life, its kind of a no-brainer.
We Honor Mother Nature
In conclusion, we promise to dedicate ourselves to your preservation. We will incorporate you into our everyday lives one wall, one roof, one office, one mall, one home at a time, until the world looks greener again.
We promise to Make America GREEN Again.
With love, gratitude, and appreciation,
Andromeda District (and everybody else)
